Do you want to understand how data helps us observe the Earth and how initiatives like Destination Earth turn data into insights? Join us for the upcoming data.europa academy webinar ''Observing our planet through data: Destination Earth'', taking place on Friday, 13 February 2026, from 10.00 to 11.30 CET.

During this webinar, several speakers will be present who will each share their expertise on different aspects of Earth Observation:

  • Antje Kügeler, project manager for spatial data infrastructures at con terra, will open the session with an introduction to Earth observation data, explaining how it supports science, policy, and society.
  • Building on this foundation, policy officer Daniel Draghicescu from DG CNECT will present Destination Earth, outlining its use cases and the EU’s policy objectives behind creating a digital twin of the planet.
  • Finally, Michael Schick from EUMETSAT will offer a behind‑the‑scenes look at Destination Earth with a brief technical overview of how the platform, data lake, and digital twinsinteract to model natural and human systems.

Finally, we will wrap up with an interactive Q&A, giving you the chance to engage directly with the speakers.
